Mitch,

I really like Rusty's Revolution and if you are okay with a 64" bow then 23" riser and Short likmbs works great. What do you think of the 21" DAS for a 62" bow?

Mitch,

I really like Rusty's Revolution

There's a very nice dark line from the limb through the black bar and back to the limb. Looks as if they were made to match.

Mitch, i can relate. This is a spigarelli revolution bare bow model. 23" with HEX 5 shorts. The bow will do anything and everything. I put a 6 oz weight in the stab boss.

I have used the bow all the way to a low chin anchor, to high cheek bone. The revolution is not a high dollar riser and i like the feel a lot. I put limb skins on the riser when i hunt it. I took it to Idaho one season.

Btw. The low anchor i speak of is string walking a 64" bow. 3" 20 yard crawl.

Where do you live in Pa? I am near Quakertown and have some stuff you could try to get a feel and see what you like.

Todd
Todd, I live in the southwest corner of the state. Pretty far from you, but I sure do appreciate the offer. :)

Rasyad, a 21" riser is not out of the question. In fact, it might make more sense. I do not want to go longer than 64" for hunting, and I would be tickled with a 62" bow if it felt good to shoot.

BTW, funny you should mention a 21" DAS riser……somebody just offered me one. Maybe you are on his sales team.

I've always loved the looks of the Revolution, it's just so purposeful. The flex issue has kept me from trying one though.

I wonder what it would be like if all the bushings were replaced with stainless steel ones? Or if they redesigned it so the front layer was 1" further out? I need to work for a company designing bows, too many ideas floating in my noggin.

Metal for hunting. Hmm hunted with my nexus for 4 years, my current hunting setup is a 23" best zenit w short limbs.

And my all round go to bow is a 21" bernadini cobra I can shoot that bow for spots, 3D, or our local field course. It's a shoe in for hunting.
A few years ago I was frustrated with my shooting and the bow I was using, a week before our state shoot I switched to my cobra and took state.
That bow is sooo sweeeet.

Metal for hunting lol all the time metal for everything.

OK, riser choice is out of the way. 21" Dalaa, black, lefty, slightly used by somebody that stress tested it with a 32" draw length.

Now on to the limbs. I am going to go with shorts, making a 62" bow. I don`t think this will be a problem since I only draw 28 1/4".

So far I am considering either DAS foam core or Tradtech Extreme BF`s, but I am open to suggestions. I would like to know more about Borders, but I have a hard time navigating the site, plus, I operate better with pictures.

Once I decide on limbs, the rest of it should be easy. I should have one of Gary`s springy rests to try out first thing, and I already have various weights that should be able to balance this setup out well for me.

So what other limbs should I consider?

BTW, any limbs gotta be able to switch to the DAS system….I am interested in trying that limb connection system.

I have a set of medium Hex 5's on my 21" Dalaa that haven't been separated for a couple years, it's one of my "keeper" rigs.
My new- to-me Max 1's may have found a home on my Cobra riser. Early testing is very promising. If you get a chance to try a set of the "super recurve" limbs you will see what the buzz is about. They're a little different animal. Are they that much "better" than my Winnex or the BF extreems? I'm not sure, but I like them and they look kinda cool too :D

Rusty, I hunt with 3 under, and from a 15 or 20 yard crawl.

I prefer to have a hunting bow that feels loaded and wants to go. I have yet to shoot short limbs, but I think I would like them for hunting. I also want a hunting bow to be at least 62", but think I would prefer a 64" bow. That is why I was thinking more along the lines of a 23" riser with shorts. Being left handed is hurting me for the first time in archery. With wheel bows I could shoot a right handed bow left handed to get the feel for the bow……that is pretty tough to do when shooting fingers.
A DAS 17 with mediums or longs. For me? If I wanted a real short "Snappy" recurve, the 17 inch riser is good to go for hunting.

I'd rather have the 17 with mediums as the 23 with shorts for hunting any day.

For me its a DAS 17 or 21, or even a TD3 riser warf with DAS connections at 20", and for limbs my two go-to limbs are BF Extemes and Winex. Both limbs are smooth and fast, with the BFEs a little snappier. All combinations of the above are good for just about everything.

The TD3 is a good option that can be found relatively easy on the classifieds.

Pretty close Steve……:)

After a lot of online searching and a few phone calls, I am on the list for a set of Morrison Max 2 limbs……short.

23"GMX film dipped, with Hex5's Med, for a 66" bow, I will shoot it for 3d, with stab and sight, and then hunt with it... with stab and sight!

Have a great day,
Kasey

How do you guys handle these longer setups for hunting? Im trying to go as short as possible like 54-56"

I shoot and hunt regularly with 64" and 66" bows Mike, it's really not the handicap I thought it might be. I use taller ground blinds when I have to and natural blinds when I can but even hunting from a tree stand just takes a little more thought and a slightly different setup....

I miss my RER Arroyo for the trees thats for sure

I used a 64" bow for most of the season this year, and will likely use it until everything is over. Out of a tree it is no problem, but getting into some of my thicker spots is not real easy.
