Default My DAS bamboo core LB Limbs

I received my limbs yesterday and mounted them on my Samick Discovery riser as others had done .
I ordered the XL 29# limbs and on my Discovery, I pulled 32# on my Discovery riser .
The combo shot great . There was a little vibration in the handle after the shot , but nothing to really complain about .
The combo with a Dacron Flemish string and catwhiskers, it is the quietest Traditional bow I’ve ever shot .
Today I tried the limbs on one of my 19” White Feather Lark risers .
Bottomed out the combo is pulling a hair over 30# @ 28” .
I used the same string with as much twist as I could safely take out and have a brace height of 9” .
I’ll be twisting up a new string to lower the bh down to around 8”
How does it shoot ?
Awesome! The vibration is gone and it was hard for me to believe, but it’s now the quietest bow I’ve ever shot .
I was even able to shoot the Full length Gold Tip 600’s fairly accurately . Better than any other bow I own .
I do have another set of xl’s ordered but I’m thinking of changing those to longs .
Edit: I was able to change my order to a set of longs.

Twisted up a new string for my Das/WTL combo yesterday .
It rained of and on all afternoon, but I did get to shoot a few arrows this morning after my bike ride , just before the rain started back .
I think my recurves are in trouble of neglect. .

Hi David,

I have the same limbs and riser, but haven't had time to play with it. What length string did you end up with and brace height too?

Thanks!

The XLongs make a 64” on a 17” riser , so on the 19” WFL , it’ll be a 66” .
With that said , when I build my Flemish strings, I lay them out on my board one size up . I use Dacron B-55 or B -50
Going with a normal string size , my strings always Turn out too short .
So, I built a string for a 68” bow . I think I increase my ends more than what’s necessary.
For the upper end of a longbow , I start with 8”-8-1/4” and do 2 1/4” for my loop before twisting the end back into the string . The bottom is 7 1/2” .
I like a lot of twist in my string to ensure a solid string .
With the brace height , if I got below 8” , I got some vibration in the bow , 8-8 1/2” it seems to shoot smoother and crazy quiet .
I’m going recheck that brace height and will let you know if it’s anything different . The string isn’t shot in yet and there’s a little bit of stretching going on .
Edit : checked my string and BH , 60.5” string , 8-3/4” brace height . This morning when I shot , I added nine twist to my string because it didn’t feel right .
