Hah, never really thought about "arrow walking". If rules don't already spell it out, then I imagine that it would be made illegal as soon as someone won using that.

If I were to do that for competition I think I'd probably try for 9gpp out to 30 yards, 7gpp to 60 yards, and as light as possible out to 80 yards.

I shoot a York round at least once a week. i use arrows made specially for 100 yards, 80 yards and 60 yards ... most people I used to shoot with back in the 70s did the same .. not so much now

I do know you can't do that in NFAA field archery. All arrows must weigh the same and be the same length.

World Archery rules on arrow=All arrows used in any end shall be identical in appearance and shall carry the same pattern and colour(s) of fletching, nocks and cresting, if any. Tracer nocks (electrically/electronically lighted nocks) are not allowed.

This is why I was able to change arrows between distances. Everything that I did was approved by judges. We have certified judges and equipment inspections at the WA tournaments in CA. I even got a copy of the judges guide book. The rule you are quoting sounds like I could have changed arrows even by end.
