Default Usps

People need to be aware that the postal service is so busy delivering Amazon mail for a loss while private packages are sitting in limbo with no hope for delivery.

Sorry if this has been covered already.
I personally have products " in transit" indefinitely.

I called them and was given a reference number on top of my tracking number, to use whenever I call again.
They said there is no clue to when the package may arrive. They were sure however that it wouldn't be soon.

I bring this up for all you buyers out there. Don't hold your breath.
Sellers may want to add extra insurance as I fear things are going to be lost.

Amazon packages that are shipped through USPS are being delayed also . It’s not just private packages .

I have had no problem with USPS, FedEX or Amazon. My problem recently has been UPS. It took 3 days on the local truck to get an overnight delivery. I was following the truck on the tracking app as it drove around until after 9 PM. I appear to be at the end of their route so they run out of time. They seem to hit the industrial areas first and then loop around and hit residences. The driver told me that they were swamped with Mothers Day, which was about a week prior to when we were supposed to get the overnight delivery. Also, keep in mind that there is a lot of on line shopping going on now with risk or closure of brick and mortar stores. So far, most of my deliveries have been very quick, with the exception of UPS.

I mailed a packet to San Diego on the 16th. It made it to Memphis yesterday. Since I'm in Texas, I have to wonder what is going on.

I had the same thing happen with UPS for a high end Harrison Longbow. I opened a trace and it magically reappeared after about two weeks. You could see it had been opened and they left it half opened when they delivered it. I think someone had it in their locker.

I have to agree with savage1. The USPS delivery time has gotten ridiculous. I mailed a package 2-day priority and over two weeks later it hasn't been delivered. The package only had to travel between two urban centers about 100 miles apart.

Prior to that, a package I was expecting via 2-day priority took ten days. I'd sure like to know why their delivery times have become so unreliable. I have to wonder if it's only packages going through the Chicago metro area or is this issue more widespread? Extremely frustrating.

Seems to be a problem in the North East too, Dave. I've had a few packages delayed coming from there. Right now I've got a package sitting somewhere in New York City. It's been there for 8 days now.

My biggest delays were from Ca. and Florida. These delays all started with Covid. They even warn you there will be delays when you track them. Usually they are very good. My post office warned that Priority takes as long as first class, so if I don't insurance send standard mail.

I would have to share my tracking number for you to better understand my dilemma but my wife doesn't think that would be a good idea.
Am I lucky to have her..

What I can say is that I could have gone round trip before lunch on any given day to retrieve my purchase.
Two day priority is over three weeks now and then see post #1,

Even these days I never had it that bad (except the one time in UPS). Only a few additional days and I ship and receive a lot over the internet.

PS Since shipping is so bad for you, would you give me a $50 discount on those limbs, ha!

Gil

Yup have one sitting in st louis for the last 4 days. It only has to go another 20 miles. Went across the country much faster.

Local is where the hangup often occurs. The packages are put on a truck for the long haul pretty quickly, but deliveries bog down at the delivery end. That is what I have seen in tracking UPS. Keep in mind that the delivery side is more complicated. All they have to do on the other side is get it to a hub. On the delivery side they have to get it to the local delivery office and then to your door. Also, there is a service level issue. Once a delivery breaches its service level (overnight, two day, etc.) it is a miss and priority may shift to packages that have not breached. This is an approach that is often used to minimize breaches. You can't miss the same service level twice so focus on the packages that have not missed. I am not sure if the delivery companies use this approach. It sure seemed that way when my overnight package sat on the truck for so long.

I think this is due to covid hysteria not Amazon.

Just shipped something to Olympia Washington. I can't ship farther than that unless it is to Alaska, Hawaii or Guam. Lets see how long this takes. The clock is ticking.
