FITA Field Archery World Ranking. You can read more about it on the website.

I can see just a very few USA events and archers in it, and I wondered, know, why...

Barebow senior class, standings in October:

The reason is, FITA Field is little known and less practiced in the US. My club (Papago FITA Archers) in central Arizona puts on two FITA field shoot each year, making us the FITA Field capital of the US. I believe there are no more than a half dozen FITA Field shoot in the rest of the country.

It's a shame, along with NFAA/IFAA field almost dying off as well. I think both varieties of field archery are the best games there are but not every one sees it my way.

I'm think going to move to Europe when I get laid off :)

I see a tourney listed in Larue, Ohio...maybe I can find that one for next year...

Bob, they have a FITA Field in Ohio every year. If I could travel better (and afford it) I'd love to go back and shoot in that one.

The problem, as I see it, is that most people don't even know what Field archery is.

I belong to 2 clubs, 1 indoor, 1 outdoor. The outdoor club has 28 field targets and for several years all they ever did was shoot 3-D. The club VP and I convinced them to have a shoot last year, 14 field and 14 hunter.

The members loved it! now we'll be having a 14 target round the last Sunday of the month from April thru November, alternating between the 3 NFAA rounds. November will be a club 'championship' shooting all 3 rounds over a weekend. A lot of the members liked it because they were less likely to break/lose arrowsthan with the 3 targets.
I'm sure if we could get a FITA round going, they'd love it.

My indoor club is only Bowhunters or Olympic style FITA shooters who think field archery is some type of alien sport. None of them have ever seen or read about a field tournament.

I guess I have to be a kind of field archery 'missionary'. YEESH!

The olympic guys could compete on FITA Field with the same equipment they shoot on target events. Some top level olympic archers also shoot Field... And they are the best...

Join the club Steve. When I got interested in competition (instead of just goofing around) five years ago there was 1 NFAA field shoot in the state. I have been pushing for more interest and participation every way I can think of and now have a club backing me for 4 field shoots every year and have talked two other clubs into trying field again. May even have a field league start at Ben Avery Shooting Range in January (keeping my fingers, toes and eyes crossed - lol).

I've also convinced a FITA target club to sponsor two FITA Field shoots each year Spring & Fall) and if we can find a range up in the high country of AZ we may have a summer shoot as well.

Keep up the good work. Field is worth it.
