Default Samick Red Stag?

Has anyone shot this bow? Would it be a good starter longbow for the price?

I had a chance to shoot the Red Stag recurves. They look good and shoot good. For a starter bow I don't think you can go wrong.

I recently got one of these from Lancaster archery.
they shipped it to New Zealand for a whole lot less than i could buy a Samick bow locally.

I asked nicely and they assembled the bow and measured it at my draw-length so that i knew what i was starting with.

so far it seems pretty nice for the price, the finnish is honestly better than i was expecting. There is a tiny bit of flex in the riser when i draw but it shoots quietly and smoothly once the best brace-height is found. Seems very "pointable" if thats the right word, seems to be much easier to shoot than the other bow i have.

I havent hunted anything more than rubber targets yet but i will.

I got a chance to look at one and took a look at the take down version. The riser seemed very blocky, there were pits in the wood as well. The shop owner let me shoot it and as a noob it just didnt feel right in my hand. I noticed a little noise from the limbs. The shop wanted 195 for it. I ended up going with at quinn takedown for 50 more. Im sure the single piece recurve is a better product. The takedown was not impressive at all.

I purchased one about a month ago. needed a low poundage LB due to shoulder issues for indoor league. So far I'm very happy with it. The grip was alittle blocky for me, so I used a rasp for a few minutes to get a nice "custom" grip. I had to drop down to 35# for my shoulder(should have gone to 30#), but it's better than 58#. It's not the fastest bow, but IMO, is a great value for the money. Taz
