Default Storing a strung recurve, can you hang them?

I shoot my recurve often, and therefore always keep it strung. My wife is tired of seeing it lay on the floor of the spare room, and I hate crawling underneath the bed to get my bow. Is there anyway to hang the recurve on the wall. I was thinking about some type of bow holder that had wooden pegs(two of them) or something, that would support the bow around the riser and hold the bow parallel to the floor. But I wasn't sure if that would cause any damage. Any input would be greatly appreciated. I would love the added space provided, but do not want to do any damage.

i have laid bows on racks while strung for months at a time. as long as the string is up and the bow is supported on the flat portion of the limb the only problem you should have is a slight discoloring from the uv difference.

My bows hang on the closet wall unstrung of course... made a rack with 3 sets of pegs just as you described, wrapped with foam to prevent scratching.....can't hurt your bow any more than leaving it strung IMHO....

maybe other opinions coming soon.

I havent done this myself, but I've seen several people hang them strung with the string across pegs. I've also seen the hang from the ceiling on utility hooks the same way. The last was pretty handy I thought.

Mine all hang by the string.I have never seen a problem with it.My bowfishing bow has been hanging for 4 years. Two hooks in the ceiling will keep it out of the way and ready to go.

I hang mine, strung, from two pegs, by the string. No problems so far.

In the closet from the clothes hanger bar. Just use a piece of shoe string or cord. If unstrung then you need a cross piece like this using a section of shaft.

I have had as many as 40 or 50 hung by string (horizontal) with finishing nails about 4ft. apart on my man cave walls. I have owned recurves that have been strung for 40 plus years and never had a problem, only unstrung them to change a string. Shawn

I just lean mine up behind my bedroom door....I shoot it every day....no problem....
if your bow is not flexed some periodically I would think you should hang it....
I have a recurve Herters that I bought in 1964 and I left it in my gun closet for 20 years or more ....unstrung...leaning against the wall....it still is perfectly aligned and shoots well....it's only 32# @28"....I dont shoot it now cause i like more draw weight...
But then again I'm new and dont have much experience in these matters.
D.

dtx123 not a good idea, bows stored on end like that can take a set or develope a slight twist. You were lucky with the old Herters, I have seen tons and I mean 100's of bows damaged that way!! Shawn
