Why? They managed it here, just added a K50 class to existing classes.

Jim, as noted, the IBO is already holding quite a few shoots, at the state and regional levels. A lot of work for the reps! Adding shoots is not easy. You need host clubs, volunteers etc. And still more time from the IBO reps.

Every business grows by giving the people what they want. It seems that many compound shooters want a known yardage class so the IBO has to decide.

Seems easy to me. If clubs can't build a separate course just tell them to bring their range finders. Not like it's a big deal at local shoots anyway

I agree with you Dana. I think that learning to estimate yardage is, like other aspects of form, a necessary skill that one can learn with practice.

Our club made cards available that had all the distances written on them. If you wanted to shoot known yardage, grab a card. If not, don't. It worked very well.

The Safari Shoot we shot last weekend in WI allows range finder. If you want to know the distance, use one. If not, leave it at home. Seems simple to me.

The problem isn't with local shoots, it's IBO state and regional shoots etc. Keeping 'known' and 'unknown' shooters separate so there is no chance of cheating, or even the appearance of it. (Yeah, that matters!)

Of course 'we' are all honest, but there are always a few of 'them' who are tempted.

OAA managed it just by adding the K50 class to its list. K50 guys shoot in their own groups only but it is the biggest compound class here now, after just one full season.

Well, to revive this topic, there are three known-yardage shoots coming up in New England -
