If we draw, Wyoming area 40-41 bighorn mountains.
My priority is getting my son on elk, last year wasn't good due to rain, snow.
Did get one day and got on a spike bull, didn't get a shot off but he was all jacked up at 35 yards.
He made good choices

My brush pasture. Over 60 elk staying there year around now. Eating my alfalfa and making problems for me. Posted some pictures of them on the watering hole, picture of the day.

I'm with Larry I'll start chasing them when I can hear them I'm my neighbors alfalfa.

I haven't chased my local herd much lately the wolves have pounded them so hard I feel bad about killing one.

Should be killing Wolves off snow machine it sounds like. I seen the wolves tear up sheep herds down by Two Dot. Cant leave them out anymore without a Shepard anymore.

Colorado Gunnison basin area which I've never hunted. Wasn't crazy about going back to CO again but damn it's sure easy. My buddy has limited time so thus the choice, but I really want to give MT a try.

Been hunting Mt for a stretch now. Took a 380 class several yrs ago a 394 that same yr off private near where i took mine on public.

Dont think i will ever bust that one but not worried about it, that monkey is done.

Will spike into ID and be happy.

Hunted a ton by mouth of Columbia River. With some Rangers. Had the master key for gates on Timber Co land. We poked a bunch back then.

Wa St really screwed the pooch on their east side herds. Was a time in the Blues hunting that pine was fantastic. Aint worth a squirt of piss now.

The Yakima herd is at peak carrying capacity. Already this year elk are moving down into farm land as their habitat shrinks and more pressure is put on available food. They are maintaining at around 9000 head for this herd alone. Don't know where you are getting your info from, but there are plenty of elk on the Eastside. On the Rez, there are elk that will rival anything in Montana or Wyoming because they are on open range land. Same for elk on the Firing Center.

I've been hunting Wyoming most of my life, you will not see elk like that on public land in Wyoming wow those are just beautiful, private property possibly but not a standard hunting area.

Sure, habitat and preserves have big elk and prolly all on private eating grains. Always saw big Bulls at Yakima Training Area. They have more like a 11000 in the Yak herd. The Rez kills a shit ton in late season Ive seen it. Kill lots a cows in the Yak district too. Last year, prolly cuz that's the only tags they handed out. My buddies ranch in Ellensberg has plenty and cars been hitting them purdy regular. More elk than 20 yrs ago for sure but a far cry from what it was like further north. I hunted WA all over for 4-5 five yrs.

Get most my info from guys who actually chase elk with stickbows. Every year I see a ton from WA state. All hunting else where!

I've hunted all over Wn. with a bow since 1954. Every year. Never have had a problem killing anything I want to eat here. We have laws on the Rez and good populations of animals. Even have speed goats now. Lots of elk and deer.
