Default Young bear

Been getting some good video of this young sow. She's already been captured and fitted with a transmitter, here in MA there is a lot of data gathered on bears.

She must be at least three years old? I would put her in the freezer without any remorse or thought, except anticipation of some great meals!

Oh yeah, I have a video taken a few minutes later, all you see is fur! The sound of snuffling and clawing is scary fun ;-)

Oddly this spot is about 300 yards from a well-used shooting range, and about 70 yards from the road. Just a natural funnel that is legally not hunt-able ;-)

I have a stand a quarter mile deeper, but since I can hunt there I can't put apples out for photo ops. (Baiting not legal here.)

If you're on 'Facebook' you can see the videos I post from this spot and others, this is just a still taken from one of those.

odd about the location. i found a place a few years back, flush with sawtooth oaks and autumn (russian) olives. the dang bears walk out on branches till they break & ride them to the ground to eat. it is less than 100 yds from a nat'l forest rifle range & 60 yds from a state highway. sound familiar? first time i hunted there, i saw nothing until dinner time, when the shooting stopped. within 5 minutes of the cessation of gunfire, i had 5 bears waltz past me headed for the dining hall...none of them were any bigger than a Labrador retriever though.

Same with me, Larry..

Shot my first bear with a circa 1825 10 gauge Joseph Egg muzzle loader..

About that size...

Momma (my wife) found it so delicious, she wanted me to go get another one. LOL

Another shot. I probably got 30 minutes of video of this bear eating, scratching, hanging around. If you haven't tried the 'video' setting on your cam, do it!

(Also have videos of a 10 point buck, 8 pointers, does, fisher, coyotes...Coyotes eat apples!)

Sometimes (mistakenly) called a 'fisher cat', actually an oversize weasel with a bad attitude - "I'm gonna eat a porcupine today!"

I'm not going to tell folks who they can eat, but with all the time I spent in woods with them as immediate neighbors and didn't get eaten or otherwise inconvenienced bye, I'm extending the same respect down the line. Now cats anywhere near children......

Here's one a little closer and more personal. Been barrel trapped so many times he runs at the smell of the bait they put in them.
