Try one of the adjustable springy rests if you are going to use for hunting. If just target a plunger and wrap around rest. Or if you want to shoot more off the shelf check out Joes post on the hump and adjustable strike plate.
Any pics on how they look on the tempest, I was about to ask the same question. I have a 25" tempest on order, and I was looking at the spig ZT. This is my first post on this site, glad to be here.
No problem. I am gapping when shooting this riser. Arrow flight is good and it doesn't rattle on the shot. I have used this rest for stringwalking in the past as well. On my 25" tempest, I am using a Gabriel bidrop rest since I stringwalk with this rig. Can't go wrong with either choice. ZT is about half the price of a Gabriel if I am not mistaken. Give both a try if you can and see which one you prefer.
Just an fyi I bought a few of those SF wire rest that look nice and are cheap. Well they are not as good as my Spig Zt rest. There is a ton of up/down play in the wire. Just thought I would mention that in case anybody thought of saving a few dollars and buying one.
JohnK, I looked at that Shibuya and don't like the glue on idea. I haven't shot anything but a rug and strike plate for year, but that looks like something that could go wrong?
The GUX doesn't look like it's carried by Lancaster??? And I can't figure what it costs at the site I found it. May leave the Spig ZT. Any thing to look out for with the ZT, I happen to have one here for another riser.
I've used the Shibuya Ultima on about 8 Oly risers and have had zero issues with the tape. As a matter of fact you better get it on straight the first time as there is no lifting it for a second try.
The AAE Champion II is another good stick on and built a little beefier.
The Hoyt super rest adorns the risers of many Olympic athletes and it's as simple a stick on as one can get, yet the pros wouldn't trust a world championship or gold medal to something prone to failure. The K.I.S.S. Principal at work.
I'm strictly a hunter. Target rain and hunting rain are two different things in my mind. To me a wrap around just seems more durable and I need that. And the main reason I want that is an arrow holder.
Soooo, my plan is to tune with a rest that is suggested here and when I'm done take down the dimensions and then put on a Dan Decker rest. My reasoning is that Jinks seemed to tune pretty easy and Joe's set up looks like a hunting set up.
Bow, I brought up the springy thread. It was from a while ago but you might be interested. Also Strickland archery sells a pretty heavy duty springy rest. It has a plunger and spring on it. Very durable.
