Hoyt Excel configurations

Firstly I apologize for the long winded question - all help appreciated

I am considering the Hoyt Excel. I am 5' 6" and have 25.5" draw length..

1. Which excel riser should I get 21" or 23"?

2. what length limbs (short, medium, long), in other words the total length of my bow?

3. Assuming I decided on the final bow length of say 62". What is the difference in performance fbetween 23" riser w/short limbs and 21" riser w/long limbs if they both give me the same end bow length.

4. I am also looking at a Gamemaster 2 or Dorado. Any thoughts?

Thanks:)

well turns out i own all three bows:) i have a 26" draw and i use a clicker so its consistent.....for me, the 21"excel has performed great with short limbs( equaling a 62" bow). i bottomed it out and then loosened it one full turn...locked it in and it shoots like a dream. as far as the gamemaster, i love mine. its fast and forgiving but took a lil more silencing tricks to quiet her down. the dorado is real forgiving and mine only required one set of string leeches to silence it. the dorado only shoots about 5-6 fps slower than the gamemaster, same weight, same arrow.

either way you cant go wrong with a hoyt!!

Thanks bailebr - very helpful. Someone who owns all 3 bows I am looking at.:)

I know this question is very subjective, but putting bow noise aside. What would you recommend in order of preference.

Thanks

Welcome to Trad Talk
If you do indeed want a 62" bow, the decision is already made for you, The 21" riser with shorts makes a 62" bow. I think this would be fine for your size and draw length. The short limbs are intended for shorter draw lengths, and you can expect a little more speed at your draw length than with longer limbs.
If you want a longer bow, I suggest a longer riser.

I'm 5'10" with a 29" draw, I had the 21" with medium limbs for a 64" bow. It worked well for me, no stacking. With the bolts turned all the way in, I got about 3# over the marked rating. At your draw length, expect to be around 5# under the marked weight.

Can't say much about the Dorado or GM, except that they're on my list...

for me personally, the order i would put them in....and keep in mind i'm a hunter and 3d shooter only. i would choose the dorado first, then the excel, and finally the gamemaster. if the excel came dipped or in flat black( without me having to paint it), i would put the excel first.
