They tend to be heavier than the non-BB risers with most of the weight on the bottom. Integral weights are a good hint too............ ;)

Thanks Aidan, that will be good to know:)

I had exactly the same issue as Jane with the grip on my Dorado: the grip itself was small and lovely to hold (and quite similar to what was later used on the Excel), but the edge of the shelf was both roughly tooled and was sticking out above the grip. Had to put rubber tape in places to avoid getting cut.. The shelf edge of the Explorer is much smoother, but it bothers me that the great gentlemen grip makers aren't taking size of grip as much into account as the high/medium/low factor;)...

Generally Italian in origin, plus the Sirius Greenhorn and the Stolid Bull, so By Best, Spigarelli and By Bernardini risers.

Only thing I can say against it is that the attachment points are threaded holes and not bushing inserts. The spigarelli screw in weights will scratch the paintwork if used on the lower hole without realising that.

I have the same out fit as you.
Only shoot one weight on the bottom.
The BEST grip is really nice in my hand too.

Got the Best Moon with 46 pound Winex pulling 50 at my draw.
Shoot X10 310 grain and ACE 330 grain.
Love watching that arc out to 90 meters.

Bigjono - the weight and balance with no stabilizer (or at least not a long rod). I had a Hoyt GMX and I loved that riser. I liked the weight, the grip, the color, the everything except what it did when I shot it. It was meant to be shot with a stabilizer so when I shot it without one the top limb came flinging back at my head. Pretty much all of the olympic style risers will do this same thing. The barebow risers are designed to balance in the hand so you can shoot in the barebow classes within IFAA, NAA, and NFAA without a long rod. The weight is in the bottom of the riser. I've asked several folks who work in American companies why they don't make them and the reason is simple economics. They won't sell them in America. There isn't a market since there are only a handful of barebow shooters, but there is still a market in Europe.

If you shot the risers side by side you'd notice the vast difference with no additional weighting. Also, you can't have so much weight that your shoulder hurts but as much as you can comfortably handle for a day of shooting will stabilize the shooting platform. I've noticed a vast improvement in my shooting, particularly field, with a heavy bow. It is stable for aiming, in the wind, and during the shot. Light bows feel nice but they are squirrelly.

Ranger B, did you try the GMX with any additional weights?

I've liked the look of the Nexus and GMX and while out of my price range at the moment in years to come second hand ones might be worth a try. I like my relatively lighter GM set up and I like the current Hoyt ergo grip so both of those things are in their favour.
If they were known to react okay with extra weight it would be good to know.

I have a Nexus and was shooting it barebow with the same results Ranger described. I plan on setting it up as an Oly style rig this winter. I like the riser.

I switched to a 650 club and am happy with it. I recently acquired a Bernadini Cobra, and after "personalizing" it, I love it. Dead in the hand, no tipping back at the shot.

Good luck with it Alphaburner. You'll get Spigarelli screw in weights from Alt. Services. Not too expensive. One of the lads at the club (actually you met him at Black Dog) briefly shot one barebow with a weight, probably a 250g. Now shooting olympic style.
Still shooting your Nilo?

A bit off subject but how long is this riser? I like the looks of it cept the grip but fixable, I also like a heavy riser its more stable to me, like stated above.

But I only shoot local state competition and love the heavy risers for hunting but they are always way long for my taste 64" is my max for hunting so it would be nice if this was a 23" riser?

Love my nexus its super sexy in max1 camo:D and it tips back after the shot also.

I don't know. The 650 was a 25" riser, as is the Vision, and I'd expect that this is too. The Explorer is available in 23" (1.1 kg, plus 200g weight- not sure if the 23" takes one or two weigths, the old 23" only takes 1), as is the Revolution (1.27Kg)

Is this riser on the market yet I cannot find it for sale.

Relatively cheap (€372, the 650 is €351 from them and €380 from Alt, might be a good time to buy a 650 as the price seems to have come down, Alt are usually closer in price).......and don't worry if your Italian isn't up to scratch, mine isn't- they speak good English.........

They will respond quickly to emails.

Greysides,
I have the weights from using on my Masters. I have just also bought a Sirius (Don't tell better half) and I'll have that next week. The Nilo went when I did my shoulder last year but thats improving. I'd rather use a barebow specific riser but the nexus was too good a price to turn down. I might set it up oly style to try and improve my draw length repeatability by using a clicker. The Sirius is being set up for FITA barebow as I'm thinking of rejoining
Cheers Aidan

Alpha, I'm begining to sound like I hold shares in Arcosport but the Explorer is a relatively light BB-specific riser, especially in 23". My wife has the older 23" and it balances perfectly well with it's single weight.I'm still kicking myself I missed one with Border limbs on Ebay a while ago. It gives a light combo that might be worth considering if the Nexus doesn't work out. I've told James I want first dibs on his Nexus if he ever goes to sell it....can't see happening though.

If you SW, you can set the clicker to work at one distance- who needs stabilisers............ :D

The Sirius is a good choice, as if you need to be told, given by the number of them in evidence at last years world comp.

Must meet up at Tinctern.......I'll be wearing the bow from the pictures I posted recently- you have a red Rose in your teeth!

You can have first dibs on mine if the Sirius is as good as its cracked up to be.

I wont have a red rose but I will have a Destroyer 350. I know its bad form but it will (probably) be its last outing. Steve Partridge is coming so I'm going to see if I can shoot with him day 1. You'll be with him day 2 whan all the same styles shoot together.

The last Manufacturer I have left to try now is the Best. Then I'll probably start all over again
