The ASA Kentucky Limbsaver ProAm Championship will be held June 4-6th at the Laurel County Fairgrounds in London Kentucky. I know there are several shooters on this forum from Kentucky and surrounding states. It would be great for you to come out and shoot with us. You can find the rules at www.asaarchery.com. We shoot on Saturday June 5th at 8am only(need to be on site by 7:30). We shoot all 40 targets on Saturday morning.

Barebow glad to have you. Be sure to be at the 7:30 safety meeting. Your card says you are on X/Y range. We don't have an X/Y range. We are assigned the range we will shoot at the safety meeting. Look forward to meeting you. I will be the fat guy in the red Dakota Bow shirt.

This is going to be a fast shoot for me. Just found out that I have to catch a flight to Utah Sunday.
It’s going to be a drive up Thursday from Florida shoot some Friday , then do the shoot Saturday morning and as soon as the last target is shot hand in the scores, and hit the road back home so that I can catch the flight Sunday to SLC. I will have to find out how I did with my Blackberry on the road home. Some day, maybe they will let me retire.

Drive safe. I am hoping Ky has as good a turnout as it did last year. It would be great if some of the guys on this forum from KY and the surrounding state would come out. Van one of my friends from Southern Indiana John Jones says he is coming to the shoot. He was the Shooter of the Year in 2006. Real tough shooter, one of those guys who the trad world doesn't know about but can put a whippin on anybody.

ASA= Archery Shooters Association. It is a national organization that holds 6 National ProAm events/year and the Classic(their World Championship). They also have a Federation circuit at the state level. ProAms are held in Gainesville FL, Columbus GA, Paris TX, Augusta GA, London KY, Metropolis IL and the Classic will be held in West Monroe, LA.They have classes for everyone from Open Pro(compound) to Eagle(8-9 years old).

The Traditional class rules are simple, any recurve or longbow, any type of arrow, 12" max stabilizer, any rest, no string/face walking, no clickers. That pretty much covers the equipment. We are very fortunate that ASA gives us our own range on Saturday morning. With the exception of an occasional compound shooter(someone who has to shoot one round with us because of some type of time conflict) there are no compounders on our range normally. We shoot all 40 targets on Saturday morning beginning at 8 am. Usually we are finished by 11 or so(as long as we can get Van to remember to take an arrow with him to the stake:) ).Sorry Van had to let your secret out. It is a good group of guys to shoot with and you never know who might show up. As I said in last month's thread a lot of big name Trad shooters have shot ASA in the past.

Membership to ASA is $30/year and you must be a member to shoot. However in Traditional and a couple of other classes you can shoot one shoot/year as a "guest" for a $5 fee. The entry fee for the tournament is $30 with a payback of 70% to the top 15% of the field.

I hope this answers some of your questions.

Ben would have been nice to have you shoot with us again. Have fun on your cruise.

Esquire- Yes no sights. Sorry thought that was a given. Max distance is 25 however you may get a 26 or 27 because when our stakes are set they usually don't range them. The range will usually average 18-20ish. We will have some shorter shots and some longer shots. I believe Van will agree with me on this that the last ranges we shot at Augusta were some of the best we have shot. I think that course averaged about 21 or 22. Hope to see you out there next weekend. The forecast looks wet so bring yer boots.

14 12, 10, 8 and 5

There is a 14 spot about 1.5 inch at the top aft of the 8 hart lung zone, Hint you will get a 5 (body score) if you are a bit high; if low will get you a lung zone 8

A ten is sort of in the center of the hart lung and a 12 is a low aft ten (sort of )

At least that is how I look at it. A shaft that cuts a line is the higher of the scoring rings . If it cuts the ring its in if not its out .

Sounds like fun. Even though my own shooting is horribly rusty at present.

We have a yard sale planned for that weekend so I'll have to figure that bit out. but it'd be fun to join the shoot as your guest, Van.

I'm hitting the highway Thursday morning. It's only a 13 hr drive from here. See everyone that makes it out, Friday or Saturday morning for the shoot.
Which way around the world are you going?:)

That's quite a reminder of the size of your country.
